2009 CNN Hero: Carolyn Manning
One of my first pro bono projects here at Fervor Creative was a brochure design for The Welcome To America Project. I remember reading the copy and almost crying. The organization provides furniture, clothing and support to refugee families coming to Phoenix. They are not given much, a blanket and a pillow per person from what I remember. This organizationsteps in and delivers a few more things to help a family settle into our culture surrounds – a couch, a TV, and some volunteers to get help them settle into the new homes.
Carolyn Manning, the founder of WTAP was bestowed the honor of CNN Hero for 2009. See her story and many more here.

Inspiration: Vintage Cans & Lettering
Lance Wilson & Dan Becker photographed a portion of an extensive beer can collection (2000+ cans) containing cans from the past 70 years or so. Vintage packaging is always intriguing! see their flickr page here. (via The Dieline)

(dis)respect
Found a brilliant quote today by Marc Jacobs, the fashion designer. He said "The only time anything ever changes is really when you're respectful and disrespectful at the same time." We have to respect the parameters of the project, but the more we question its purpose, the more innovative the solution.
